Polarity Therapy in Atlanta

Polarity addresses the disruptions in the body's energy flow that result in stress and trauma.

Polarity therapy is a complementary therapy that involves balancing the flow of energy in the body to improve or maintain health.

If you are new to Polarity, you probably wonder what takes place during a Polarity Therapy session.

Polarity Therapy was developed by Dr. Randolph Stone. Dr. Stone’s findings and protocols were published over 50 years ago. It employs hands-on bodywork, diet, and exercise to balance energy and release constrictions within the body. The goal is to restore a natural flow of energy within the body. The client may feel a deep cleansing, relaxation of muscle and fascia tissue, fuller breathing, better organ, and system functioning, and heightened vitality.

During the bodywork session, the client lies fully clothed on a massage table. The practitioner places two hands on the client’s body to establish a positive and negative pole. The client’s energy flows between the practitioner’s two hands or the two poles – hence the term polarity. The energetic flow stimulates areas of constriction and allows the tissues to relax and open. The goal is to restore the natural patterns of energy, which have become distorted by trauma, family patterns, and modern living.

The practitioner may use a light touch, employ deep tissue work or manipulate the body position. A detailed series of protocols are employed throughout the bodywork using reflex points and energetic balancing methods.

During the session, clients often become sensitive to the energy as it moves within and around their bodies. Various methods of visualization and breathing are also taught.

Polarity yoga postures and nutrition advice based on Aruyvedic tradition are also offered as a way to extend the benefit of the sessions. Like other forms of holistic health, the full benefits are not experienced with a single session. The client is encouraged to participate in a series of sessions as part of a journey of discovery towards health and spiritual well-being.
